Course Content & Structure
This course will take place over four sessions - one per week. Each week will consist of a one-hour interactive live webinar on a relevant topic with questions and answers followed by a homework to take the lessons from the week’s sessions and apply them to your organisation.
Each week there will be templates for you to use and access to professional support to help review the work carried out.
Week 1 - What is an ICP and how is it relevant to your business?
In week 1 we will be looking at the background to Internal Carbon Prices - What they are; why companies are putting them in place and examples of how other companies and organisations are using them.
In addition to this we will be understanding the potential business requirements for internal carbon pricing and identifying key stakeholders and assessing their drivers.
Week 1 homework:
Map out the stakeholders in your organisation
Set up meetings with key stakeholders to assess their business requirements
Map out the requirements for your organisation
Week 2 - Setting ICP objectives
In this week we will be looking at ICP best practice - what makes for a good Internal Carbon Price - Height, Width, depth, time - with examples of each. We will look at how to combine best practice with business requirements and set ICP objectives.

Gain internal approval for the objectives
Week 3 - Understanding the pricing mechanisms and setting the ICP price
Week 3 will be an intense look at the mechanics of internal carbon pricing. We will start by looking at the drivers and influences on internal carbon pricing and how they might apply to your organisations; followed by assessing different carbon pricing mechanisms in the marketplace. We will then delve into projected future carbon prices and how that might impact your business.
Week 3 homework:
Identify appropriate pricing mechanisms for your organisation and write a section on your choice and why
Recommend an appropriate Internal Carbon Price level and whether this is static or variable
Week 4 - Developing the change mechanism for your organisation
Week 4 will wrap up the Internal Carbon Price by looking at ICP change control mechanisms, on-going monitoring of best practice and forecasting to ensure the Internal Carbon Price continues to reflect business requirements. In addition this session will look at integrating Internal Carbon Pricing into business case development.
